State Senator Randy Hultgren has represented the 48th district in the Illinois Senate since 2007. Randy, who has lived in the district for most of his life, serves as the Republican Spokesman on the Telecommunications and Technology Committee, also serves on the; Judiciary Civil Law; Financial Institutions; Elections; Labor; Revenue Committees as well as the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.
He has a strong record as both a businessman and in public service of working to create jobs, reduce health care costs and protect Illinois families. Prior to serving in the Senate, Randy served the 95th District in the Illinois House since 1999. He was first elected in 1994 to the DuPage County Board and Forest Preserve Board, representing the 4th district.
He has been consistently recognized by groups like the NFIB and the Illinois Chamber for his record of fighting to lower taxes, eliminate government waste, reduce health care costs, improve education and enhance public safety. His legislative victories include winning passage of long-overdue medical malpractice reforms to keep good doctors in our communities, sponsoring a property tax assessment freeze for disabled veterans, passing legislation to put state financial information online for increased transparency, fighting the Blagojevich Gross Receipts Tax, and passing legislation to protect seniors and consumers from identity theft – the fastest growing crime in the nation.
A lawyer and businessman, Senator Hultgren attended Bethel University and graduated in 1988, Magna Cum Laude. He received his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1993. Randy served as the Republican Precinct Committeeman for Milton Township Precinct #20. His service to the community has also included working on the Board of Directors for the DuPage Homeownership Center, the Metropolitan Family of DuPage Board, the Koinonia Ministry Board and the Serenity House Board. Randy is the current President of the Wheaton Academy Alumni Board.
Born in 1966 in Park Ridge, Senator Hultgren graduated from Wheaton Academy in 1984. He is Vice President of Performance Trust Investment Advisors and resides in Winfield with his wife, Christy, and four children.
